Nai Nai

Nai Nai (my mom) had an accident yesterday evening. She was working in the attic over the garage and fell through the ceiling, landing on a car and bouncing off into the floor. She was taken to the ER. She has several injuries, but it could have been a whole lot worse. Please pray for her as she recovers. She will probably have a long recovery. We love you Nai Nai and are praying for you!

Valentine Boxes

This morning I decided to let the kids have craft time and make their valentine boxes. As you can see Possum's box has nothing to do with valentine's day. It is all about hunting! Squirrel was very independent with hers and didn't want very much help. She doesn't care that the stickers are already sticky, she still has to add glue to them. Because of this her box is covered with blue from the glue stick. After we got the boxes finished I gave them each a valentine to put in the others box. This did not go over very well with Possum. He was not understanding the whole concept of exchanging valentines! It took me about 10 minutes to get him to understand that you are supposed to give your card away. Now that he comprehends this he has checked his box about every 15 minutes to see if anyone else has put a card in his box! I guess I will have to occasionally leave him a little treat. They are so happy with their creations and can't wait for Daddy to get home from work to show them off.

Happy Birthday Poppa!

Today is Poppa's (my Daddy) birthday. The kids are old enough now to know that a birthday equals a birthday party. They have been very concerned over the fact that they are going to miss Poppa's party. We made Poppa some cards at the beginning of the week to send to him and the whole time they were talking about what kind of party Poppa would have. I guess we may have to give him a party here at our house and tape it for him or celebrate the next time we are together!

Poppa, we love you very much and hope you have a wonderful birthday. You are a wonderful Poppa and Daddy and I thank God that He allowed me to be your daughter. You have been such a blessing to my life. We miss you and wish we could party the day away with you! Maybe next time we are together we'll have a great big chocolate cake (that was for you Nana)!

SSSHHHH! We're Hunting Wabbits!

While I was selling candy with the kids yesterday, Joel took Possum and Squirrel hunting for a little bit. It was the last day of rabbit season and they were successful with 2 kills!

Attack of the Cranes

This morning I was awakened not by the sound of a rooster crowing, but to the sounds of cranes. We are being overtaken by them. These pictures were made in the field by the house. As you can see, Squirrel was looking out of the bedroom window at them. There are thousands of them and unfortunately for Joel they are protected and he can't shoot them. You can hunt them in other states and they are known as "ribeye in the sky" and so Joel would love to be able to shoot one and try it out, but he can't! As to taunt him, they have to fly right over the house and land in our yard! At least it is pretty cool to look at!

Fun in the Snow

The kids were just dying to get out and play in the snow. Okay, their Mommy was dying to play too! We had a snowball fight and Daddy pulled us around on the sled. There wasn't a whole lot of snow on the ground yet, but it was enough for the kids to play in. We are supposed to be getting some more so maybe there will be enough to build a snowman later!
