Cousins

We took a quick trip to Alabama at the beginning of the week to check on all of the family. Possum and Squirrel got to spend a little time with cousin Joshua at PawPaw and MawMaw Brasseal's house and they had a big time!

Dove Hunters

Squirrel has been wanting her Daddy to take her dove hunting and so this afternoon was the time. We all ventured out for a little family time. I believe that everyone had a great time!

Squirrel and Trace have become good friends. I just love these pictures of them. Especially this last one.
Possum can be such a good big brother. He walked all the way to the truck to get his water bottle and was sweet enough to bring his sister's water bottle back without even being asked!

I think this dove surprised Squirrel and was still flapping its wings when she picked it up!!

Trace's First Hunt

Today was opening day of dove season and Joel took Possum and Trace for a few hours this evening. Trace is only 3 months old and really too young to hunt. Joel just wanted to get him around a gun and make sure he wasn't going to be gun shy. Trace actually impressed them by hunting down a dove that Joel hit but couldn't find. I think that all 3 of them had a great hunt!

Pumpkin

A couple of weeks ago we went to visit Tisha and she gave the kids this pumpkin that she had grown. The kids and Joel have been after me ever since we got it to cut it up and make a pumpkin pie. Have you ever cut up a pumpkin? It is hard work!!
I roasted the pumpkin seeds. The square dish is just salted and the rectangular dish is cinnamon and sugar.

Squirrel had to practice cutting pumpkins out of dough!
Cooked and mashed pumpkin ready for the freezer.
Fresh pumpkin pie
The pretty little pumpkin pie crust
Overall the experience with a real pumpkin wasn't too bad. There was just way too much pumpkin. Oh! I forgot about the pumpkin bread that is still in the oven cooking.

Water Wars

I had a "water wars" activity with the younger kids at church today. Possum and Squirrel had a great time and got really wet!!

Squirrel has shaving cream on her face. They had to use water guns to spray the cream off.

Sponge race which the girls won!

Balloon race which the girls won. When Possum saw that the girls were going to win he ran and got the shaving cream and added some to the girl's balloon so they wouldn't be winning.
