Family Fun

What a week we have had. Our church has been in revival all week and then on Thursday our family began arriving for Squirrel's birthday party. Cricket, Maddie, baby Kenzie, Nei Nei, Mama, Kyle, and Kamren all came at some point on Thursday. That made for 12 people in my house, four of which are three and under. Wow!!! Mix in a cinnamon roll order, pig cookies, and a pig cake that had to be made, a party that had to be prepared for, plus church every night and that made for some exciting times. The kids all had a great time playing together and as you can tell from the last picture, made them very tired. On Saturday my aunt Debbie, other Mama, and cousin Amethyst surprised us and came for the party. More family!!! Last week was filled with church and family this week is going to be filled with doctor appointments. Three of the four of us have appointments and I have to take some friends to the doctor on another day. Busy, busy, busy.

Gone Huntin'

Yesterday Mr. Gary brought Possum a surprise-a new shotgun! This gun has little shotgun shells that you load in it and after you shoot it the gun smokes. Possum loves it! I wish I had taken his picture when he saw it. The look was priceless.
This morning I overheard Possum telling his sister that if she would get her hunting clothes on he would take her hunting. How sweet! I scrambled to find camouflage that would fit them both, Possum gathered the needed supplies to go hunting, a gun for each of them, binoculars, and a dog leach (?), and Squirrel ran to get the four wheeler. Off they went on a great hunting adventure. As I was walking inside I head Squirrel say that she shot a dove. Success!

Sunday Best

We are teaching the kids that when you go to church you give God your best. Possum didn't want to wear his tie this morning so we had to go back over the whole lesson again. He then decided that he would wear a tie IF it was his favorite color green. He doesn't have a green tie and so he had to wear what I had picked out. Squirrel got to wear a new dress that Nana and Papa Ron got her for her birthday. Even though I didn't get very good pictures of them, they looked very pretty and handsome this morning.

Pumpkin Patch

What a fun weekend that we have had! Joel's cousin Heath and his girlfriend Kimberly came for a quick visit. They arrived Friday night and left this morning after church. Yesterday, Kimberly and myself took the kids back to the pumpkin patch. It was very crowded and very warm and this made for cranky kids. Squirrel really wanted to ride a pony so we stood in line to get her a ticket and then stood in line for her to ride. When we finally got her on the pony she started crying. At least we got her picture and they gave me my money back! Thankfully we did get to ride the wagon this time because I was not looking forward to walking to the pumpkin patch again. All in all it was a fun day.
Saturday night Brother Tim arrived. He is preaching our revival this week. We fried fish for supper and enjoyed sitting around talking. The weekend went by too quickly. I really enjoyed having Heath and Kimberly here. The kids are really going to miss them. They had so much fun playing with Kimberly. We will be looking forward to Christmas and getting to see them again.

Rainbows

*Squirrel has an apron on and Possum has just Elmo undies on!!!

I had just read Ashley's post this morning about rainbows and then God allowed us to see our own rainbow this afternoon. I was trying to get the kids ready for church and Joel started yelling for us to run and look. At first the rainbow was very dim, but it got brighter as we stood there and eventually became a double rainbow. I got an umbrella (since it was still raining and I didn't want my camera wet) and went out into the yard to try and get a full shot, but the rainbow was too big. It was so cool to be able to see the whole thing. Joel explained to the kids what the rainbow meant. Possum and Squirrel were very excited since this was their very first rainbow ever.

I finally got the kids ready for church and as we were loading them in the car they both wanted to know why God took the rainbow away. I think they will be rainbow watchers from now on.

Another cute thought-Possum has been faithfully reminding me to water my mums (since I frequently forget). It has rained here for the past two days. When we got home from church tonight Possum said, "Mommy, God watered your mums for you since you don't fell better." I'm so thankful that he realizes that God makes the rain and rainbows!

Donuts

Possum is finally getting his appetite back. As you can see, he totally enjoyed this chocolate covered donut and was even more excited when he realized that is was filled with "whip cream". Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of Squirrel. She was already in the tub by this time (if that lets you know how bad she was!).
