Possum's Sleep Study

"Macadonald's" makes everything better!

The Patients: Possum I and Possum II

Possum II trying to eat Possum I's wires

Everything is better when you are holding Daddy's hand.

He just couldn't take any more.

Thankfully the sleep study is over. Possum started the evening out great. He talked and laughed with the nurse and was very cooperative. The process of getting him wired took about an hour. The last five minutes did him in. After having no nap all day and letting the nurse do all of her work, he was just too tired. The pictures tell the story. He started happy and ended not so happy! It was a long night for Possum, Dad, Mom, and the nurse. If you need further details you can give me a call. We don't know any results yet. The test will have to be analyzed and scored and then the doctor will give us a call.

Possum made some of these pictures. We were trying anything to keep him happy.
Notice that Possum's possum was also wired.

The Joy of Bubble Gum

Lest anyone think that I am sitting at the computer playing the day away, I am posting a picture of my ironing so you can see that I am being a busy housewife and mother. But Possum is in rare form today and I had to post some of the funny things he has said before I forget it all.

Possum wanted a piece of bubble gum. I normally do not let him have gum, because of obvious reasons. Squirrel is taking an early nap, so I thought it might be okay since I wouldn't have to fuss with her over a piece. I explained to him to chew it and not swallow it (which is what he has done in the past). He asked me how to blow a bubble, so I stopped my ironing to try and teach him. The pictures and video above show what his bubble looked like-a big blob of gum at the end of his tongue! I will say this is the longest that he has ever kept a piece of gum in his mouth without swallowing it. I think we are going on 20 minutes.

Before Squirrel went to sleep she was being a little sassy. I told her to go put something in her room and she just sat there. Possum (of all people) quickly reminded her that "The Bible says to obey your parents" and then he began to sing O-B-E-Y (a new Patch the Pirate song he learned during VBS). If only he practiced what he preached!

Earlier Possum looked at the end table by his daddy's recliner. It is a mess. Joel was working on his arrows and didn't pick it all up. He had to leave quickly yesterday morning to go to Birmingham because Papa Brasseal is having heart problems. I am not going to touch it so I won't lose any of the little pieces. Anyways, Possum looked at the mess and said, "You need to give Daddy a spanking because he didn't pick up his mess." He was being very serious. I think this is because he had just gotten in trouble over his mess.

He is now bouncing (literally) his rocking horse around the living room saying "I'm a Amish riding down the road. Watch the Amish." I think we have been to the Amish too much this summer.

The horse just bucked him off and hurt his finger. He came to me upset. This is the conversation:

P: I'm really really hurting.
M: Okay. I'll just go ahead and take you to the hospital now.
P: But you can't because Sissy is still sleeping.
M: That's okay. We'll just leave her here.
P: But she will cry and cry and scream.
M: So. She'll be fine.
P: I'm okay Mom. We can't leave Sissy here.

I'm glad that he cares that much about her.

Just a cute thought...

Possum woke up this morning and called for me. When I got to him, through squinted eyes he said, "I need some juice please. I think my eyes will open up if you give me some juice to drink. They are all mashed together this morning." So I guess that juice has the same effect on Possum that coffee has on his Mommy (or Mom as he is now calling me).

Squirrel got out of bed this morning, ran and got her chapstick, put some on and said "I'm a baby doll Mommy." I think that she has heard her Daddy call her that a few times too many!

Possum actually got up early enough this morning to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, which is one of his favorites. He is normally the late sleeper. As you can see they have been transformed into my tv zombies again.

Tonight is Possum's sleep study. Squirrel will stay at Nene and Allen's house. I was afraid that Possum would be jealous (and he still has time to get that way), but he has new pajamas and gets to go to "Macadonald's" to get a happy meal on the way to the hospital. It should be interesting anyways.

The last picture was just snapped out of my front window as I was typing. It is blurred, but I didn't want to look like those crazy people that take the Amish's picture when they don't want them taken.

Say Cheese

Possum brought me the camera earlier and told us to put our heads together and say cheese. These are the results of his photo shoot. Not the most flattering pictures of us you will see, but
definitely some of the funnest to make.

Happy Birthday Pop

Today is Pop's 88th birthday. We had a birthday dinner for him last night. We had a great meal and enjoyed a special bird dog cake. In Pop's younger days he loved to bird hunt. Pop has lived a great life, although at times it was hard. Pop served our country in World War II. He has been a deacon in our church for many years. He and Granny had a great marriage. Although they never had any biological children, the Lord blessed them with many adopted children. The four kids in the picture above dearly love Pop and he loves them in return. Possum and Squirrel pray daily for Pop.
We love you Pop and hope you have a great birthday!

Summer Picnic

We are having such wonderful weather that tonight we decided to eat outside. Daddy grilled the meat, I cooked the sides, and Possum and Squirrel got the table ready. As we were eating we watched the deer and rabbits playing in our backyard. We are so blessed to live where we do.

No More Nursery

My baby promoted from the nursery to the "big" Sunday school class today. We are no longer in need of the nursery. For three straight years I have had a baby in the nursery at church. No more Marla Hu (Mrs. Marla Sue is in charge of the nursery at church. Squirrel pronounces some of her S's as H and affectionately refers to Mrs. Marla as Marla Hu.). No more diaper bag. No more playing during church. Now Squirrel attends Mrs. Regina and Mr. Bill's class with Possum and then goes to Toddler's Church. She has tried to go with her brother to Sunday school for about a month now so she was very excited that today was promotion day. She took her little Bible and money for Jesus and planted herself in a seat right next to Possum. I was a little concerned about them sitting right next to each other, but quickly remembered that Mrs. Regina can handle them. I was told that she did great today. I'm anxious to see when one of them does get into trouble if they will tell on each other. It is bound to happen. They are too close in age and will be in classes together sometimes.
I guess we are now officially out of the baby stage. We have been rid of bottles, cribs, and diapers for a little while now. The nursery at church was our last step and we took it. Wow! The past three years have flown by. Thanks Marla Hu and other helpers for taking good care of my babies in the nursery.
