Water Wars

I had a "water wars" activity with the younger kids at church today. Possum and Squirrel had a great time and got really wet!!

Squirrel has shaving cream on her face. They had to use water guns to spray the cream off.

Sponge race which the girls won!

Balloon race which the girls won. When Possum saw that the girls were going to win he ran and got the shaving cream and added some to the girl's balloon so they wouldn't be winning.

Terrific Trip To Tennessee

It is the time of the year for Joel and Pawpaw's annual elk hunting trip to Colorado, but Pawpaw had shoulder surgery in May and his shoulder just hasn't healed properly and so they can't go on their trip. We decided to drive over on Thursday evening and spend a couple of days with them to cheer the disappointed hunters up! On Friday Nana took us over to the Smokey Mountains to spend the day. This was Squirrel's first trip that she was old enough to realize where she was. We ate lunch at the Apple Barn and as you can see she really liked the apple fritters and apple butter.

Squirrel was really smiling for the camera!

Not sure what Possum was doing?
These pictures were made to show Poppa and Nana Bama that we ate at one of their favorite places!!
After a trip to Bass Pro Shops, lunch (followed by a trip to the candy store and buying homemade apple pies), and doing a little shopping, we drove through Cade's Cove. Possum and Squirrel took a little nap until we got there. We then quickly woke them up to see all the critters!
We saw turkeys, deer, and even a bear! Unfortunately the picture of the bear that I took was just a blur.

We had a wonderful little visit with Pawpaw and Nanna.

The Totally Finished Playhouse

The playhouse is all finished now. Joel did such a wonderful job on this house.

Notice the cute little shelf Joel built for the kids to put stuff on.

Squirrel Girl

That Spells Possum

In our curriculum for the week the kids were supposed to start learning to recognize their names and tracing their names. Possum decided to be the overachiever and after he traced his name he began to write his name. I was very excited. I asked him if I could video him spelling his name so everyone could see him. You'll have to watch and see for yourself how he did. Let's just say after this video we had to have another lesson about what those letters spelled! I am happy to say that now he can write and spell his name and he knows that they don't spell Possum!

Lake Fun

I honestly don't know if I have been out on the boat all summer. We have been so busy that there just hasn't been any time for a boat ride (even though we only live 2 minutes from the boat ramp). When Joel came home Tuesday night he suggested that we go out for a few hours. It was almost 6:00 by the time we got on the lake, but at least we had a few hours to play! I am amazed at how much Possum has grown up since last summer. He now jumps right in the lake and swims away! He is much braver than his Mommy!!!

Alphabet Pudding

One day at school this week the kids got to make pudding and then got to write letters in the pudding. There was a lot of finger licking going on!
