My Handyman

Let me start this post by saying I have been doing some heavy duty spring cleaning. I did several things yesterday, one of which was cleaning mine and Joel's bathroom extensively. I washed down the walls, cleaned out the linen closet and under the sinks, and painted the ceiling. We have several old water stains on our ceilings from when shingles got blown off the roof and we had never got those stains cleaned up and repainted the ceilings. I decided that is was time. I was tired of looking at the stains. Anyways, I had worked long and hard on that bathroom.

Fast forward to today. One of the sinks in our bathroom had been dripping and Poppy told Joel how to fix it. Joel was brushing his teeth after supper to go back to church for a counseling session this evening and I guess he decided it was time to fix the leak. He sent Squirrel after a tool and he had his sidekick Possum looking on. I was in the kitchen when Joel started yelling for me to come. Then I hear Possum screaming. This was not a fun scream. This was a scared, something is wrong scream. Then Possum comes running down the hall to me. Knowing Joel like I do, I'm just sure that I'm going to walk into the bathroom and see him with blood all over him. I run to the bathroom bracing myself for what I'm going to find and was very surprised. There is Joel with water gushing towards the ceiling (yes the ceiling that I had just worked on yesterday to get rid of water stains). The bathroom was flooding! He got the water turned off and when I realized that he was okay, with no blood coming from any body parts, all I could do was laugh and ask if I could please take pictures. Then as I was mopping water up all I could say was "My clean bathroom that I worked so hard on". Oh well. It's still clean. Just a little wetter!

If you need a handyman......think twice about calling us!!

Busy Builders

We have been busy bees around our house today. While I cleaned inside and pulled weeds outside the kids worked on the roof of the playhouse, dug for worms, and planted a "garden" in their sandpile.

Trains

Poppa and Possum both have a fascination with trains. This is Poppa and Nanna's basement floor that is covered with trains. Possum had a great time playing with the trains.

PawPaw Overton's Birthday

PawPaw, Uncle Wayne, and Luke

We happened to be in town on PawPaw's birthday and so we got to go to his birthday party. My Aunt Lisa cooked supper and all the aunts, uncles, and cousins who were in town were there. We had a good time and enjoyed getting to help PawPaw celebrate his birthday. It is not often that we get to do this with family and so this was a special treat. We love you PawPaw and hope you had a great birthday.

Possum and Aunt Becky

We enjoyed some time visiting with PawPaw and MawMaw Brasseal and Aunt Becky for a few hours. The kids picked berries and Possum helped PawPaw with his fire. Then we walked across the road and explored the old homeplace. The weather was beautiful and perfect for exploring.

The Old Homeplace

This is the house that Joel's PawPaw Brasseal grew up in. It is right across the road from where they live now. I wanted to take some pictures of the old house so the kids would always have this memory.

Possum was fascinated with the old pump.

All Tuckered Out

This is how we feel when we are in Alabama-tired! With four sets of great grandparents, a set of grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins to visit it is exhausting getting around to see everyone. This is Squirrel in between visits with great grandparents. She had fallen asleep in the car and when Joel got her out she walked inside and leaned over on the recliner and fell smooth asleep again. There are just so many people to see and so much to do in such a little amount of time that the kids have to sneak a nap whenever and apparently wherever they can!

Monkeys in the Park

We went to visit a friend today and the kids got to spend the afternoon in the park while the adults visited. The kids had a blast! Possum was like a monkey swinging from the bars and climbing on everything. Squirrel tried her best to hang with him. Joel and I were really impressed with Possum's coordination and motor skills. Possum on the balance beam was the most impressive. He truly takes after his Daddy and poor Squirrel takes after her clumsy Mommy!
